Afrobeat,Electro,Dub music festival this weekend | featuring Houwaida,Débruit & Alsarah, Nass Makan…

This year Sweden’s National Day 6th of June coincides with the alternative music festival, Clandestino Festival where audience will be invited to take their senses for a musical and intellectual experience ride from Thursday up to Saturday this week. Traditional musical expressions with influences from DRC, Nigeria, Tunisia, Sudan and Senegal will meet pop, electro and dub into an irresistible afrobeat fusion!

Saturday is the grand afro influenced night when Houwaida, Ibibio Sound Machine and Débruit & Alsarah will perform at Musikens Hus and Skjul 46, all close to Stigbergstorget in Gothenburg.

The lineup event on the Sweden’s national day, Friday is worth a visit!

A visit to Clandestino will definitely leave you both challenged and inspired.

The funky feeling of James Brown flirts with electro and highlife! Eno Williams sings in her mother tongue Ibibio from south-western Nigeria accompanied by the Ghanaian guitar legend Alfred “Kari” Bannerman and Brazilian percussionist genius Anselmo Netto.

When Houwaida Hedfi from Tunisia enters stage together with Swedish Olof Drejer (known from The Knife), we will expect to hear North African drums bendir, djémbe and chachek with electro beats.

Nass Makan under the artistic leadership of Ahmed el Mahgraby makes music from Egypt, Sudan and Romani collaborate. The mission is to reshape old traditions into modern experimental installation. Bitches Brew for the Nile delta.

00.30 I Débruit & Alsarah I Skjul Fyra Sex

From the collaboration between French Débruit and Sudanese Alsarah, we expect to experience heavy dub beats, rhythms and samples from Senegal, DRC, Kairo and Paris interwoven with melodious tunes and East-African retro pop.
