Sweden’s Minister for Health Care visited Zambia

The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs with The Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka and Swecare Foundation organized a Swedish health care delegation to Zambia. The focus was put on cancer care and control and headed by Sweden’s Minister for Health Care, Public Health and Sport, Mr. Gabriel Wikström. The Swedish delegation consisted of Swedish life science companies and experts whom discussed health care, cancer care, screening and prevention with Zambian counterparts.

The delegation program included field and study visits, meetings as well as an expo and forum co-hosted by the Cancer Diseases Hospital. The aim of the forum was to discuss potential areas and methods of cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Cancer Diseases Hospital and other relevant Zambian stakeholders.

Minister Wikström met with Hon. Minster of Commerce, Trade and Industry Ms. Margaret Mwanakatwe, Hon. Minister of Health, Dr. Joseph Kasonde, Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Vincent Mwale and Hon. Minister of Finance, Mr. Alexander Chikwanda. In his capacity as Minister of Sport, Min. Wiktröm also visited the Olympic Youth Development Centre where he got to meet active young boys and girls engaged in football, swimming, tennis, basketball and much more.
