South African singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka also known as ” The princess of Africa” has become the first African woman to receive the World Economic Forum´s Crystal Award 2012. The award is given each year to successful artists who have used their art to “improve the state of the world”.

Chaka Chaka started her career at the age of 19 and has been within the music industry for the past 27 years.  She has had many hits along the years, among these are “Thank you mister dj” , “Umqombothi” (African beer), “Motherland”, “ I cry for Freedom” etc.

Growing up in the 80s or 90s her hits were heard everywhere. For the young generation enjoy while the older generation should reminiscent.

Good old days

oooo i remember those days, chaka chaka was really hot. My personal fav. song is Umqombothi, those were good times. Well done Chaka.
