Queen of African Music arrived, set to perform in Sweden today

Angelique Kidjo and her band which is made up of eight people arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden by 18:00 pm on Sunday (2014-03-09). She will be performing today at the historic 150 years old Stora Teatern in the business district of Gothenburg. The special offer tickets sales for Skandik Afrik readers ends by 16:00. A Tetris travel

I arrived in Kampala by night, the city is warm and vibrant. Outside the airport there are two means of transportation to choose from, cars or motorcycles also called boda bodas, I opted for the later and held on for dear life as it went criss-crossing the streets like brackets in a Tetris game. Kampala is sometimes called The Seven Hills, I understood why as we rode uphill from the city center. Passing through the tall buildings, with the freshness of the evening air blowing across my face, I am suddenly filled with confidence that we can become good friends, Kampala and I.

Over 100 sculptures of metal, stone and terracotta from between 1100 -1500 years tells the story of the African Kingdom Ife in the south west part of Nigeria, where the people of the Yoruba race in Nigeria today originate from. The objects testify to an early cosmopolitan center of power in West Africa, where Ife was one of the most advanced societies of its time.

Midsummer is celebrated to welcome summertime and the season of fertility. It is the longest and the brightest day of the year. A unique and important cultural information that is very important to most Scandinavians and to all that are planning to live in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland or Iceland. There can never be better way to celebrate the longest day of the year especially when the sun and warm temperature were at the peak, compared to almost average 20 hours of darkness in the winter with snowflakes or frost on the ground for almost half of the year.

ANOTHER CITY IN SWEDEN EMBRACES AFRICAN MARKET PLACE
