From Sweden to Ghana – Susheel shares her experiences from Madina

A dream came true when I took a journey from Sweden to Ghana. I have always dreamt of travelling to Africa and for my first trip to Africa, I chose Ghana as my destination.  I’ve heard so much about this beautiful country that I was determined to follow my dreams after a year of planning, I finally arrived.

Madina is a suburb of Accra, a district in the Greater Accra Region of southeastern Ghana. The University of Ghana is located in Madina which also houses the Institute of Local Government.   Madina is the twelfth most populous settlement in Ghana.

Learning how to braid

Hair braiding is common in Africa and I’ve always been curious about how the hairstyles are done.  I was fortunate to have some experts teach me how to braid hair under a tree while chatting away about life in Ghana.

It is very hard for me to articulate in words the warm feeling inside of my mind and my soul. Here in Ghana, there is a deep human connection you find with others, even with strangers and new people.

Once you come to Ghana, you experience a deep love, connectedness, and passion between people that is very rare to find in Sweden.
